State law requires children between the ages of 5 and 17 to attend school or make apppropriate home-schooling arrangements. Before placing a child in preschool or the first grade, parents must present at registration a state-issued birth certificate, proof of residency and a completed immunization certificate or religious objector's statement.

If a child will be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, he must be enrolled in public or private kindergarten unless the parent or legal guardian signs a waiver. Students are required to attend at least 170 days each 180-day course as well as meet all minimum requirements for each course.

Greenville County Schools operate on a staggered schedule to minimize bus delays. School start and end times may vary a few minutes.
