Job Goal: An individual in this position is responsible for providing technical assistance to an assigned group of schools. Work involves assisting individual school managers to ensure efficiency and compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines. Assistance is provided in meal preparation, meal service, sanitation, on-the-job training for operators, classroom training, and other operational areas as identified through reviews and monitoring visits.

Qualifications: An individual in this position should have the following credentials:
(1) BS degree in Food Service Management or an Associate’s degree in Food Service Management plus 5 years of institutional food service management experience, or high school diploma plus 10 years of institutional food service management experience.
(2) Considerable knowledge of local, state, and federal meal accountability guidelines.
(3) Ability to work with limited amount of direct supervision.
(4) Ability to organize time and establish work priorities.
(5) Excellent interpersonal skills.
(6) Good oral and written communication skills.
(7) Ability to work with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations.
(8) Knowledge of school food service practices.
(9) Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.
(10) Certified to instruct ServSafe sanitation coarse.
(11) Understanding of HACCP principals.

Performance Responsibilities:
(1) Direct individual managers in improving the efficiency of program operations.
(2) Assist food service managers in corrective actions required as a result of
monitoring visits.
(3) Direct food service managers with meal planning, forecasting, preparation, and service concerns. Insure that managers meet food cost guidelines.
(4) Investigate, address and resolve parent, principal, and district concerns with the department.
(5) Assist managers with marketing and promotions.
(6) Approve and insure that all financial data of assigned schools is correct and reported in a timely manner.
(7) Conduct site reviews of assigned schools to comply with federal free and reduced meal accountability guidelines.
(8) Resolve all matters that pertain to personnel of assigned schools. This includes hiring, firing, recordkeeping, and evaluations.
(9) Assist in the planning and execution of training for all employees.
(10) Assess food facilities to determine equipment needs and assist with fixed asset management.
(11) Assist computer technician with problems concerning computers, printers, and fax machines.
(12) Assist with the design of new facilities and coordinate the movement from the old facility into the new.
(13) Conduct classes for students and parents in nutrition education and participate in school health fairs.
(14) Oversee implementation of HACCP.
(15) Audit individual school programs for financial and federal guideline accountability.
(16) Other duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisor
