OVERVIEW
The Center for Community Services (CCS) is now in search of a dynamic Executive Director to lead this organization through its next phase of growth. We are looking for someone who can lead with humility and strength. The Executive Director is the leader of the organization and CCS primary representative. He/she must be both grounded in a social services orientation and skilled at resource development. The Executive Director is responsible for stewarding the organization’s vision, achieving its mission consistently, providing strategic leadership, ensuring financial and organizational sustainability, and overseeing organizational management. The Center for Community Services CCS is a non-profit, multiservice initiative striving to expand and transform human services for families and neighborhoods in southern Greenville County and adjacent communities. Specifically, CCS strives to ensure easy access of all area residents to effective services to enhance their own and their families’ quality of life, to enable their productive participation in community life, and, when they are suffering, to alleviate their distress. Located in Simpsonville, South Carolina; CCS was founded in 1997. CCS occupies the hosts three family support programs and houses seven non-profit agencies that together provide a wide range of human services on a year-round basis for families in need, including health care, adult literacy, emergency relief, early childhood education, and family violence intervention.
CCS serves in average yearly more than 6,000 unduplicated clients, of whom 53% are Caucasians, 28% African Americans, and 19% Hispanic. Participating families benefit from a one-stop site to receive various human and social services closer to where they live. The organization has 5 core staff, 2 additional support/volunteer staff, and a robust network of volunteers and partners. The organization is governed by a Board of Directors.
THE REGION
The Upstate is the region in northwestern South Carolina, United States, also known as The Upcountry. Although loosely defined among locals, the general definition includes the 10 counties of the commerce-rich I-85 corridor in the northwest corner of South Carolina. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership and Constituency Building

Works with the volunteer Board to ensure organization’s mission and vision.

Serve as the public face and primary spokesperson for CCS, increase the organization’s visibility, and communicate the essence of the vision to external stakeholders.

Directs and coordinates the fund raising efforts of the Center, including special events, grant writing/procurement, and all contributions from the community.

Serves as prime liaison with the agencies utilizing the Center, ensuring that the Center will be operating at capacity.
Resource Development and Fundraising

In coordination with the PR/Fundraising Committee, to develop and execute overall fundraising strategy and plan to ensure long-term growth and financial security for CCS.

Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors and private foundations, in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
Board Relations

Serve as the primary liaison with the Board in strategy, fundraising, institutional and financial governance and oversight, and miscellaneous matters.

Develop, partner with, activate and motivate the Board to support and act on the organization’s goals and mission, and grow their capacity; serve as staff lead for the Leadership Development Committee.
Financial and Organizational Oversight

Responsible for the development and monitoring of the Center’s annual budget

POSITION REQUIREMENTS and QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have significant strengths in leadership and resource development and a minimum of two years of professional experience in key role of management of a non-profit sector. Serving as executive director of a nonprofit organization is preferred.

A deep understanding of, and sensitivity to, multicultural and diverse communities and their constituents

A personal zeal for visionary leadership based on strong strategic thinking

Four years degree from an accredited university is essential. Preferable in a human services related field.

Training and background in fund raising is essential.

Computer literate: Fluency with Microsoft Office applications, Google apps, databases, and social networking is essential

Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, including talent in relationship-building, public presentations, and writing, as well as planning and marketing skills is essential. Experience in grant-writing is preferable

Ability to speak Spanish as well as English fluently is preferable

Experience in working with and/or serving on a volunteer board is preferable
WORKING CONDITIONS
The job is performed in an office setting at the Center. Many activities and meetings are also conducted in the larger community. Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, are often required.
